We start with thin, genuine basswood shells and using a unique eight-step finishing process, give them a three-dimensional textured lacquer surface that’s unlike any other. QR Series

The QR features 9-ply, 7.2mm basswood shells with low density, single-point-of-contact lugs and the Mapex Isolated Tom System (ITS). Mapex ITS eliminates direct contact between the tom mount and the drum, allowing the shell to vibrate more freely and therefore, resonate more naturally. The system is successfully used on many other Mapex Drums, including the M Birch, Pro M, Saturn and the top-of-line Orion Series.

The QR Series is available in three five-piece configurations. The Standard configuration (QR5254TC) comes with a 22 x 16 bass drum, 12 x 9 and 13 x 10 tom toms, a 16 x 16 floor tom, and a 14 x 5.5 snare drum. The Fusionease configuration includes a 22 x 16 bass drum, 10 x 8 and 12 x 9 tom toms, a 14 x 14 floor tom and a 14 x 5.5 snare drum. Mapex also offer the QR in the company's popular Voyager configuration. Voyager comes with an 18 x 16 bass, 10 x 8 and 12 x 9 tom toms, a 14 x 14 floor tom and a 14 x 5.5 snare drum. Stage Custom Nouveau

The Yamaha Stage Custom Nouveau 5-Piece Fusion Drum Set is a drum kit that's ready for serious grooving. It combines Yamaha's precision craftsmanship with the warm, attenuated sound of birch. Rich finishes adorn deeper and thinner 8-ply shells with 1.6mm triple-flange steel hoops and birch (outer ply), Philippine mahogany, and falkata construction. Yamaha's Air Seal System used for shell construction ensures each and every shell is of uniform thickness and is perfectly round to achieve superior tone quality and durability.

Nouveau lugs are attached to the shell by fiber-reinforced composite bolts at 2 points by a unique floating design that reduces vibration damping. Absolute Birch

Aluminum die cast hoops give Yamaha Absolute Birch Bass Drums the benefit of accurate tuning. While die cast hoops are known for accuracy, aluminum hoops are lighter than zinc, so they don't choke the drum like die cast zinc hoops do. Aluminum die cast hoops allow the drum to open up much like a triple-flanged hoop.

The use of Yamaha's original Air Seal System is, in part, responsible for the superior quality found in Yamaha drum shells. Select woods are cut into plies, positioned with staggered diagonal seams, and sealed together with evenly distributed air pressure. The resulting shells are perfectly round and of uniform thickness delivering superior tone quality and exceptional durability.

All Birch Shell
In production for over 25 years, Yamaha's world famous Recording Custom series has given their craftsmen a deep understanding of the characteristics of birch. It is with that knowledge that Yamaha has been able to extract a richer sound from these new drums. The shells are manufactured using Yamaha's exclusive Air Seal System. This technique, while enhancing the characteristics of the wood, also ensures that every drum shell is perfectly round, of uniform thickness, and creates a stronger, more durable shell. Producing clear mid-and low-tones with sharp, solid highs, the Absolute Birch is sure to create a new standard for birch shell sound.

Vintage Finish
The Vintage finish is a special synthetic resin finish that is applied by hand on high-quality wind instruments. While enhancing the tone of the birch shell, the Vintage finish also provides a durable, waterproof finish that virtually eliminates the influence of weather and humidity on the drum. Over the course of time, the color of the shell will change to a deeper hue that you will surely love.

Floating Bass Drum System
Height adjustment on the pedal side of the 18" bass drum is possible with the pipe post stabilizer. Use of this system ensures that the beater makes contact at the center of the head. The stabilizer fits into a pipe clamp on the underside of the drum that allows quick and easy adjustment of the height. The post is equipped with a memory clamp that ensures subsequent settings will be quick and precise every time, while a pair of supports provides added stability.

Lugs
The unique chrome body lug casings found on the Absolute series are fixed to the drum shell with only a single bolt allowing the drum to vibrate freely. A special nylon insert prevents tension rods from becoming loose during play.

Bass Drum Spurs
A sturdy hexagonal design and fixed angle position allow Yamaha's spurs to withstand bass drum kicks. For the Absolute Birch Yamaha made the spurs heavier and even stronger. Height adjustment and the releasing and retracting of the pointed spur are made easily with a drum key.

Die-Cast Bass Drum Claws
All new Absolute bass drums come with die cast claws that are lined with plastic so they won't scratch the hoop or rattle if they are loose. The claw has a nylon insert that keeps the claw and tension rod from separating so you don't have loose parts getting lost when changing heads.

The Yamaha Absolute Maple Nouveau 4-Piece Fusion Rock drum set is constructed with the Air Seal System. These thin, rock-sized 100% maple shells utilize a revolutionary quick-release lug and aluminum die cast hoops to provide maximum resonance with rich overtones. They also come with a hand-rubbed interior finish and Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System (YESS) mounts.

The use of the original Air Seal System is in part responsible for the superior quality found in Yamaha drum shells. The revolutionary design of the quick-release minimal-contact lug casings found on the Absolute Nouveau series are fixed to the drum shell by snapping onto a post that is anchored at the nodal point. This allows the drum to vibrate freely. They allow the heads to be changed in less time and reduce the risk of losing tension rods or washers. A special nylon insert prevents tension rods from becoming loose during play.

The aluminum die-cast hoops give these drums the accurate tuning of zinc die cast hoops without their weight or choking action. They allow the drum to open up much like a triple-flanged hoop.

The original YESS (Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System) mounting system is used on all Absolute Maple Nouveau toms and floor toms. This rod clamp system allows attachment of the drum to the tom holder without the need of a hole in the drum shell for the rod to pass through. The YESS clamp is attached to the shell at the nodal point with 2 bolts so as to allow the shell to vibrate freely without degrading the shell's dynamic range and sustain. The nodal point is the location on a shell with the least amount of vibration allowing for the mount to have minimal affect to the resonance of the shell.

The round ball clamp is a fundamental part of these Yamaha drums. Made of super-hard resin, the ball is held firmly in place with a steel plate and large wing bolt. While providing ease of operation, this system also delivers total freedom in setting and superior stability.

Each Santana Series Conga stands 28" high and comes with EZ Curve Rims, which feature heightened durability, comfort, and a unique skin wire channel. Also standard are 9/32" diameter tuning rods, LP Aspire reinforced side plates, and specially selected rawhide tucked heads. Shells are LP’s proven roadworthy fiberglass.

The new drums are available in three configurations. First, there is a Santana Series Quinto & Conga Set, with Stand, consisting of a 10" and 11" diameter drum. Second, to supplement the standard conga pairing, LP introduces a Santana Series Tumba, with 12" drum to augment bottom end resonance.
